Install firmware
Vesper bundles no firmware. You supply the official PS5UPDATE.PUP, and the app installs it in one menu step.
The official PlayStation 5 system software file. Sony publishes it; you supply it; we never host it.
PS5UPDATE.PUP is the file Sony distributes to update a PlayStation 5. PUP stands for PlayStation Update Package, and inside it is the console's system software — the operating system your games actually run on top of.
An emulator reproduces the hardware. It does not reproduce the operating system, so the system software has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is this file.
The system software belongs to Sony. Vesper has no right to redistribute it, so it is not bundled with the installer and we do not download it for you behind the scenes.
We also do not host PUP files, keys, or dumps of any kind. Get the package from Sony's official PS5 system software page, or take it from a console you own. Both are legitimate routes to a file you are entitled to have.
Once you have the file, Vesper installs it in a single step: File, then Install Firmware, then pick the .PUP. The firmware guide covers the details and the handful of ways it can fail.
You do this once. The app does not update firmware on its own, and you only repeat the step if you deliberately move to a different package.
The copy on Sony's own official system-software page is the one to use. We point at the official source rather than mirrors precisely so there is no ambiguity about what you have.
No. Firmware is not bundled, and we host no PUP files, keys, or dumps.
Any emulator that boots the real system software does, because the operating system is not something an emulator can invent.
It is a full system software package, so expect a sizeable download. Sony's page states the current size, and a truncated download is the usual reason installation fails.
