General

What exactly is Vesper?

An early PlayStation 5 emulator for Windows PC. You download the free Windows installer, add the PS5 games you already own to the launcher, and boot them on your PC with a DualSense or gamepad.

Is Vesper free?

Yes. Vesper is free to download from this site.

Is Vesper affiliated with Sony or PlayStation?

No. Vesper is independent software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

How finished is the emulation?

Vesper is early software with a large library: the Windows app holds 400+ PS5 titles, each Stable. Expect the occasional glitch along the way — we'd rather show a per-title chip than promise console parity.

Where do I get PS5UPDATE.PUP?

Firmware is not bundled with Vesper, and Vesper never downloads it for you. In the app: File → Install Firmware, then select your own PS5UPDATE.PUP (PlayStation 5 system software) — get it from Sony's official PS5 system software page or your own console. We do not host PUP files, keys, or dumps. After installing, File → Boot system software starts the PS5 UI on Windows.

Games & compatibility

Does Vesper include any games?

No. Vesper is the emulator only — it doesn't include, sell, or stream games. You bring the PS5 games you already own.

Which PlayStation 5 games run?

The Windows launcher holds 400+ PS5 titles — including God of War Ragnarök, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Astro Bot, Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 — each Stable. Results vary by title, hardware, and build, so check the chip in the launcher before you boot.

Will games run at 4K 60fps?

Vesper makes no resolution or frame-rate promises. Emulation is demanding, builds are early, and every title behaves differently. The per-title status tells you where things really stand.

Can I use games I don't own?

No. Vesper is meant only for games you already own. Our Terms of Use cover this in more detail.

Controllers

Which controllers work?

DualSense over USB or Bluetooth is the recommended pick for PS5 titles on PC. Most Xbox and other gamepads that Windows recognizes work too.

Do I need a DualSense?

No. Keyboard and mouse work throughout the app, and other gamepads work. A DualSense is just the most natural fit.

My controller isn't detected. What should I try?

Connect over USB first, then make sure Windows sees it: check Settings › Bluetooth & devices, or search Windows for "Set up USB game controllers". Try a different cable or USB port, then reopen Vesper.

Privacy & data

Does Vesper collect my data?

This website keeps basic server logs and aggregate numbers like page views and download counts. In the app, crash reports are optional and can be turned off in Settings. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Does Vesper send my gameplay anywhere?

No. Diagnostics stay on your PC unless you choose to send a crash report, and you can switch those off in Settings at any time.

Troubleshooting

The download didn't start.

Head to the download page and use the Download Vesper for Windows button. Some browsers ask where to save files first, so check your browser's downloads panel too.

Vesper won't install or open.

Make sure you're on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and that your graphics drivers are up to date — Vesper needs a Vulkan 1.3–capable GPU. Windows on Arm isn't supported yet. If it still won't start, restart your PC and run the installer again.

A game runs slowly.

The catalog is Stable. Update your graphics drivers, close heavy background apps, try the latest Vesper build, and check the system guide for recommended hardware.

Still curious?

The system guide covers hardware, DualSense, and known limitations in more depth.
