# The Windows installer

A plain Windows installer. Download it, run it, open Vesper — and nothing else comes along for the ride.

## Facts (2026-10-13)

- **Supported OS:** Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit
- **Architecture:** x64 only
- **Price:** Free
- **Bundled extras:** None

## Running it

1. Open [the download page](/download) and get the installer.

2. Run the file the way you would any other Windows program.

3. Accept the install location or pick your own, ideally on an SSD.

4. Launch Vesper when it finishes.

There is no account step, no activation, and no second download to chase. The launcher opens straight into its night-mode interface.

## What gets installed

The emulator, the launcher interface, and its configuration files. That is the whole payload. No games arrive, no firmware arrives, and no toolbars or extra software are bundled alongside it.

Leave room on the drive for your own games as well as the app. Vesper itself is modest; the PS5 titles you add are not.

## Check these before you install

- 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. Windows on Arm, macOS, and Linux are not supported yet.

- An x64 CPU with AVX2. Without it the emulator cannot run at all.

- A Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU with a current driver.

All three are covered in more detail on [the spec page](/setup/minimum-recommended), and the AVX2 requirement is the one that most often rules out an older laptop.

## If the app will not start

A missing-DLL message at launch usually means the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 x64 runtime is absent. That is Microsoft's own official runtime, and [the missing-runtime guide](/howto/missing-runtime) explains where to get it.

If the window opens and then closes, an out-of-date graphics driver is the next thing to rule out.

## FAQ

### Is the Vesper installer free?

Yes. The Windows installer is free to download from this site and asks for no account or payment.

### Does the installer include PS5 games or firmware?

Neither. You supply your own official PS5UPDATE.PUP and the PS5 games you already own.

### Can I install it on a gaming laptop?

Yes, provided it runs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 on an x64 CPU with AVX2 and has a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU.

### Should I install to an SSD?

It helps, and it matters considerably more for the games themselves than for the app.
