# How-to

Short, specific answers to the four problems people hit most often after the installer finishes.

## Facts (2026-10-13)

- **Guides:** Four, kept deliberately narrow
- **Scope:** Windows 10 and 11, x64
- **Assumes:** Vesper already installed

## Pick the problem you actually have

- [Play PS5 games on Windows](/howto/play-on-windows) is the end-to-end walkthrough if nothing is set up yet.

- [Missing runtime](/howto/missing-runtime) covers the DLL error that stops Vesper before its window appears.

- [Fix low FPS](/howto/fix-low-fps) is the ordered checklist for stutter and slow frames.

- [Use a DualSense on Windows](/howto/use-dualsense-on-windows) handles pairing, haptics, and the pad Windows refuses to see.

## How these guides are written

Each guide fixes one thing and stops. We do not pad them with settings that sound impressive but change nothing, and we do not promise a frame rate at the end.

Where a step depends on hardware, we say so. Emulation is demanding and Vesper is early, so some problems have no fix yet beyond waiting for the next build, and the guides admit that where it is true.

## When a guide does not help

Check the title's chip on [the dashboard](/dashboard) first. A game sitting in Test is expected to break, and no amount of configuration will promote it.

If the title is Stable and still misbehaves, the fault is usually driver age or a CPU missing AVX2 rather than anything inside the app.

## FAQ

### Vesper opens but my game shows a black screen. Where do I start?

Update your graphics driver first, because Vulkan lives in the driver. Then confirm the title is not sitting in Test on the dashboard, and try the latest Vesper build.

### Is there a guide for adding games?

Yes, under setup rather than how-to: add-your-games covers pointing Vesper at the PS5 titles you already own.

### Do these guides work on Windows 10?

All four apply to 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 equally. Nothing here needs a Windows 11 feature.
